Composite Appeal; Why You Should Choose the Faux Deal

When choosing new shutters, blinds and other window treatments, there are several options that need to be taken into consideration. From the color and pattern, to the level of light and temperature control that the window treatment can provide there are several different ways to pick and choose which one would work best in the room, which one fits the style and charm, whether classic or modern. These choices are personal, thought out ahead of time to find the best option. What about the materials used in the window treatment though? With shades and curtains, it is always going to be some manner of fabric, but not all window treatments are the same. Some people want the natural beauty of wooden designs to be incorporated into the room, with window treatments like shutters or wooden blinds. Both are excellent choices for a modern, traditional, or elegant approach.

Real wood is an expensive choice to make though, and that can turn people off from choosing shutters or blinds, thinking that you cannot have one without the other. However, there is a third option. Composite materials bridge the gap between affordability and quality. So exactly what are composite materials? Composites, also known as faux wood, is a mixture of real wood, plastic, and a binding agent, that has a similar look and feel comparable to natural wood. This material can then be painted, usually in a white or tan color, to enhance the warmth and feel of the room, though these are not the only colors that this style of shutter can come in.

While composite materials do not have the same natural grain texture and color of real wood, the diversity and ability to pick and choose which finishes goes best in any space more than makes up for it. Composite wood shutters and blinds create a warm, welcoming, and vibrant atmosphere. For this appeal, composite materials are surprisingly cheap to manufacture and produce. Compared to real wood, faux wood shutters are much more affordable. The smaller price tag is not the only benefit to choosing the composite over its natural counterpart though.

Composite materials work much better in a lot of situations and rooms than their natural cousins. In terms of durability, composite wood is both much longer lasting than faux wood, and works much better in hot humid environments, such as a kitchen or bathroom. Over time, real wood will bend and warp as the humidity takes its toll on the window treatments, resulting in a less appealing appearance as time goes on. Composite materials do not suffer under the same effects. In the same vein, composite materials naturally have an extended lifespan, lasting longer regardless of the conditions than real wood placed under similar circumstances.

Composite wood is a distinguished material, durable and easy to maintain, without the price tag of real wood extravagance. Great because it does not bend or warp from environmental factors, and comes with a diverse array of options, designed to be one of the best choices for any room or space.
